This bar was formulated for oil control.  Our Clarify and Balance shampoo bar was designed to have less leave-in oil then our other shampoo bars.   It includes Tea Tree Essential Oil and Peppermint Essential Oil which are both invigorating and great ways to wake up!

 What to expect:

Washing regularly with shampoo that contains Tea Tree Essential Oil and Peppermint Essential Oil is believed to balance scalp oils with regular use over a period of time.  Cleaning with this bar will leave hair feeling "squeaky-clean."  As your hair dries, it will likely feel thick and manageable but not weighed down since we reduced the amount of leave-in oil in this bar.  Combing or brushing your hair before your shower will help your hair release tangles easier after washing.  You may notice that your hair does not need to be washed as regularly.  People often tell us that they can go a day longer between washings then they used to after their hair and scalp adapt to the natural ingredients. Finding your right shampoo bar takes time, see our other shampoo products to find one that is right for you!

Properties of ingredients:

  • Nettle Powder:  This botanical aids in oil control when used regularly.  It also helps to reduce hair loss and promotes growth. It is rich in silica which increases shine.
  • Tea Tree: Reduces dandruff by unclogging pours, moisturizes and improves circulation.  Tea Tree is often used to wash away dry skin that has accumulated on the scalp. That removal of the accumulation may also improve and restore hair growth.
  • Clary Sage: This essential oil is believed to be a natural antibacterial that helps to reduce the bacteria that may trigger various scalp issues.  It helps to sooth an irritated scalp by reducing inflammation.
  • Tallow: This is a terrific oil for shampoos.  It is gently cleansing and deeply moisturizing.  Some people believe that is reduces itchy scalp, it smooths frizz and softens hair.  Tallow is a similar oil to the oil found in our skin, so it is more easily absorbed and utilized.

    New to Shampoo Bars?

We get it-most of us have been using the bottle a bit too long.  Welcome back to the basics!  Shampoo bars are not only good for the environment but they are great for your hair too.  Say good bye to chemicals, detergents and drying agents.  However, you might have a few questions.  Let me help.

Can I use shampoo bars on color treated hair?

Absolutely!  The oils and botanicals that we use in our bars are not known to chemically react with color that has set into the hair shaft.  The only bar we have that influences hair color is our Tame My Locks Shampoo which was created for dark curly specifically.

How should I use a shampoo bar?

    Method 1:

For short hair:  Use the bar in your hand and in a circular motion all along your hairline until you have the desired the lather.  Put down your soap and wash as usual then rinse, rinse, rinse!

    Method 2:

For Long hair and easy to tangle hair:  Hold your ponytail with one hand and with the either hand hold your shampoo bar. In a downward stroke, rub the bar into your hair until it is soapy.  Put down the bar and massage into scalp.  Allow soap to run down hair as you wash then rinse, rinse, rinse!

    Method 3

For all hair: Use the bar between your hands and rub to achieve a good lather then transfer the lather onto your hair and wash per usual.  Then of course, rinse, rinse, rinse!

    Should I keep using conditioner?

Some people's hair takes time to get used to the bar. During that time you may want to continue using your conditioner.  You know your hair best, so do what you feel works for your hair and skin type.  Continuing to use a conditioner may take weeks and up to a few months.  Then one day you may notice that you no longer need it.  Other people use a detangle spray to accompany their shampoo routine and others use an apple cider vinegar wash once a month.

    The Handmade Difference

As always, our soaps and shampoos are handcrafted using the cold process method and aged to perfection. We create our products in small batches without the use of artificial dyes or fragrances, just good-for-you oils, butters, essential oils and botanicals.  Please note that since our soaps and shampoos are handmade and handcut, the swirl patterns and hues may differ slightly from batch to batch.
